Man Dies at Accident at Hamden Business

Faustina Pena, 50, died after 10-12 glass panes, weighing 3,000 lbs., fell on him when he was working at Orchard Glass Friday night, according to police.

An employee at a Hamden business died Friday night after as many as a dozen large glass panes fell atop him.

Hamden Police got a call at about 8:45 p.m. Friday reporting a serious injury at Orchard Glass at 30 Edmund St., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Members of the Hamden Fire Department's emergency rescue team were there when police arrived, providing treatment  to employee Faustina Pena, 50, Smith said.

"A preliminary investigation revealed that 10 to 12 large glass panes, weighing a cumulative amount of approximately 3,000 pounds, fell from a storage rack on top of Pena, who was working in a storage area with his brother," Smith said in a release Saturday.

Pena was rushed to Yale – New Haven Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, Smith said.

Hamden Police contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), who, along with the Hamden Police Department, will be conducting an investigation, Smith said.

Detective Brian Stewart is investigating the incident, Smith said.

So, let me get this straight- they take money out of the economy from us only to put it back into the economy because they know better how it should be used. Sure, that makes sense. They know better than YOU.
