Man Injured in Early Morning Shooting on Dixwell Avenue

A man was shot while sitting in his car parked in the 800/900 block of Dixwell Avenue early Friday morning, according to police.

At about 12:30 a.m. police got a call from an Alstrum Street home reporting a shooting, according to Sgt. Anthony Diaz. There, officers spoke to the victim's brother, who said the man was shot while in his car.

The victim was found at the house bleeding from the gunshot wound, Diaz said. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Officers learned that the victim was sitting in the car when another car pulled up behind it and a black man got out, approached the driver's side window of the victim's car and shot him, Diaz said. The suspect then fled, Diaz said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 203-230-4040.
