Missing Hamden Girl Found Safe in California

Emma Tobin's father says she may have been with a man who misrepresented his age to her on the Internet.

A 14-year-old Hamden girl who was reported missing on Monday turned up today on the other side of the country.

Police in Sacramento, Calif., located Emma Tobin after she arrived at an airport there late Monday evening, her father, Todd Tobin, told Hamden Patch.

In multiple posts on Hamden Patch’s Facebook page, Todd Tobin wrote that Emma had gone out to California with a man who misrepresented his age to her. The unidentified man is 28 years old, according to the post.

In a phone call with Hamden Patch, the father confirmed that information. Emma met this man through the Internet, he said.

Todd Tobin said the man is now in police custody but that his daughter won’t be charged.

Patch has not been able to independently confirm the details regarding the 28-year-old, including a potential arrest. Calls to both the Hamden and Sacramento police departments were not immediately returned.

Hamden Police did confirm to WFSB that Emma Tobin has been found.

Todd Tobin said his daughter should be back home within a few days; although, he added, there is no definite time frame.
