New Haven Man, Wanted in California, Arrested in Milford

Hamden police assist Fugitive Task Force with arrest.

The United States Marshal Service Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force, assisted by Hamden Police, arrested a New Haven man at his job in Milford business who is wanted in California.

Sigmund Edwards is wanted in California for violation of parole, Hamden police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said, on original charges of arson and domestic violence.

Officers also found that Edwards is wanted on a warrant for in Connecticut for violation of probation, Smith said.

After he was arrested, Edwards, 38, of Cherry Ann Street in New Haven, was brought to Hamden Police headquarters and charged with being a fugitive from justice and violation of probation. He was held in lieu of $115,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court May 12. 

The state of California will extradite Edwards, Smith said.
