New Haven Pair Charged with Stealing Motorcycle

Allegedly took it from an Easton Street residence.

 

Two New Haven men were arrested Wednesday after they allegedly stole a motorcycle from an Easton Street residence.

Hamden Police got a call about 6 a.m. that reported suspicious activity in the area of Cherry Ann and Alstrum streets, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Witnesses told police that two people had entered the backyard of a home and taken a motorcycle, Smith said.

A short time later, officers saw two men pushing a shopping cart on Cherry Ann Street, Smith said, and the stolen motorcycle was found nearby.

After an investigation, led by Officer Nick Lovett, the two men were arrested, Smith said.

Phillip Pervis, 21, of 1536 Ella Grasso Blvd., and Jimmy Evans, 23, of 56 White St., both in New Haven, was each charged with fifth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, and second-degree criminal trespass.

Both were arriagned later in the day in Meriden Superior Court.
