None Injured Monday in Hamden Garage Fire

Hamden firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the inside of the home, though there was damage on the outside.

A detached garage fire Monday at 11 Notkins St. burned the two cars inside and parts of the outside of the home, but no one was injured, according to Gary Merwede, deputy fire chief for the Hamden Fire Department.

Merwede said the time of alarm was 12:03 p.m. Monday, and the garage was "fully engulfed in flames" when the first fire engine arrived.

Not long after, the gas tanks of both cars exploded inside the garage.

Hamden firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the inside of the home, though Merwede said there was "significant damage" on the outside.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
