North Haven Man Arrested After Spotted in Bank with Knife

In addition to the knife, Brian Richetelli had on him two guns and a gas mask, according to police.

A North Haven man is facing charges after he allegedly went into several banks Saturday with a knife and a gun.

At about 12:30 p.m. police received a call reporting a suspicious person at TD Bank at 2992 Dixwell Ave., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

The caller told police that there was a man inside the bank with a large knife strapped to his side, Smith said. The man took off before police arrived, according to Smith.

Shortly after that, Officer Bryan Kelly saw a man inside of Webster Bank on Old Dixwell Ave., Smith said, and that man took off when he saw Kelly.

Kelly was able to stop the man, identified as Brian Richetelli, 26, of 15 Stanford Ln., North Haven, and found that he had on him a .22 revolver, Smith said. And in his car, officers found another gun -- a .44 caliber -- as well as a knife and a gas mask, Smith said.

Rchetelli was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and second-degree breach of peace. He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is due to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 7.
