A Paradise Avenue resident got a rude awakening early Tuesday morning when he awoke to someone shining a flashlight through his window.
It was about 3:45 a.m. when the man saw the light through a side window, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. He also saw someone running through his backyard, Smith said.
When officers got there, they found a patio chair poised under an open rear window of a neighboring house, Smith said. Officers announced their presence in that yard, Smith said, which awoke the two residents of that home. They unknowingly had been burglarized while they slept, Smith said.
There was an undisclosed amount of money taken from that home, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at 203-230-4040, Smith said."Hamden Police ask that residents lock their doors and windows prior to retiring for the evening," Smith said. "In addition, homes should be well illuminated and free of obstacles that obstruct their windows."
