Police Make Weekend Arrests

One person from New Haven, another from West Haven, found themselves on the wrong side of the law in Hamden.

 

Two people from out of town were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents.

On Friday, police found a man slumped over the wheel of his car parked in the lot at 940 Dixwell Ave., Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

When officers searched teh ar they found a small quantity of heroin and drug paraphernalia, Smith said.

The driver, Joseph Dollinger, 50, of 338 Elm St., West Haven, was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Operating Under Suspension.

Dollinger was released after posting a $2,500 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 13.

On Sunday, police responded to Save A Lot, 1125 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an assault, Smith said.

"Investigation revealed that a 56 year-old employee was attempting to push carriages into the store when his path was impeded by a motor vehicle that was parked in the fire lane," Smith said. "When the employee asked the operator of the vehicle to move it, the operator approached him and allegedly punched him in the face, near the left eye. The employee sustained facial injuries."

A short time later, Officer Michael Nawrocki found the individual believed to be responsible for the assault, Sabrina McCrea, 19, of 81 Mill River St., New Haven, on Henry Street in New Haven.  

McCrea was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. McCrea was detained on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 16.
