Police Raid "Drug Factory," Arrest Two Hamden Residents

There allegedly was drugs, a gun and ammunition in the home, which had been under investigation, according to police.

Two State Street residents are facing charges after police raided their home early Monday morning and found drugs and a gun.

Members of the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team served a search and seizure warrant at 1937 State St. early Monday morning after an investigation into suspected drug dealing occurring there, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"Upon searching the residence, officers seized 7.7 grams of heroin, a loaded .25 caliber handgun, 105 rounds of ammunition, drug paraphernalia and $536," Smith said in a release Tuesday.

The two residents, Jason Kaufman, 28, and Jennifer Santamauro, 25, were both arrested at the scene, Smith said.

Kaufman was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and criminal possession of a firearm. He was held in lieu of $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 12.

Santamauro was charged with conspiracy to commit possession of narcotics and conspiracy to commit possession of narcotics with intent to sell. She posted $5,000.00 bond and is also scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 12.
