Reports: Stamford Woman Killed in DC Thursday Worked in Hamden

Miriam Carey is listed as having worked at Advanced Periodontics on Washington Avenue in 2011.

Miriam Carey, the Stamford woman who allegedly tried to knock over a barrier with her car at the White House Thursday and was eventually killed by DC police after a chase, had reportedly worked in Hamden, according to several reports.

In the Summer 2011 newsletter of Advanced Periodontics, located at 60 Washington Ave., Carey, 34, a dental hygienist, is welcomed to the practice.

"We are excited to have Miriam!" the newsletter says. "She not only brings a delightful bedside manner, but also has a degree in nutrition that we hope to utilize in educating our patients about how important there diet is to maintaining optimum oral health."

No one from Advanced Periodontics could be reached for comment Thursday night.

Carey also is listed as working for Experienced Dental Placements in Stamford, which lists her home as its address.

According to police, Carry struck a barrier in front of the White House with her black Infiniti before plowing through police cars trying to escape the area. She led police on a chase down Pennsylvania Avenue in the area of the White House and the U.S. Capitol before she was shot by police.

A one-year-old child in the car, believed to be her daughter, was not injured.

The incident prompted a lockdown of the Capital, forcing lawmakers trying to work out a compromise to the government shutdown to stay in the building while the events unfolded.
