Three More QU Basketball Players Arrested for Sept. Assault

Five in all are facing charges for on campus fight Sept. 18.

Three more Quinnipiac University students and members of its basketball team were arrested Thursday for and left several injured.

Four students were injured trying to break up a fight that broke out that day at about 3 a.m. on campus, according to police. Two basketball players, James Johnson and Ike Azotam, were arrested after the fight, and three more were arrested Thursday. All five are from out of state.

Detective Michael DePalma of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division conducted the investigation that led to the issuance of warrants for the three other student athletes, who were arrested Thursday.

Jamee Jackson, 20, of Irvington, New Jersey, was charged with third-degree assault, conspiracy to commit third-degree assault and breach of peace. Jackson posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Dec. 6.

David Johnson, 22, of Jackson, New Jersey, and Nate Gause, 18, of Poughkeepsie, New York, were charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree assault and breach of peace. They each posted $2,500 bond and are also due in court Dec. 6.

A total of four students were injured during the Sept. 18 fight, one with a bruised jaw, cracked tooth and lacerations to the face that required 17 stitches, police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said. Another students required surgery for a broken nose, he said, while the two other students suffered facial injuries and the other knocked unconscious, he said.
