Two Hamden Men Among 18 Gang Members Charged

The men are reputed to be members of the Grape Street Crips, a New Haven street gang.

Eighteen men, including two from , were indicted Monday on federal drug charges in gang in New Haven.

The New Haven Register said the indictments were reported by David Fein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, on Monday. Clayton Carney of St. Mary’s Street, Hamden, and Deandre Barnes of Helen Street, Hamden, were among those charged.

At the time of the report, the Register said Barnes was still being sought, but the others had been apprehended.

Some of the other men were previous charged in an investigation under the Project Safe Neighborhoods Program in an investigation that included officers from the Hamden and New Haven police departments, state police and FBI agents.
