Two Juveniles Charged in Street Robbery

The two, one from Hamden, the other from New Haven, allegedly stole a cell phone and threatened to shoot the victim Sunday night, according to police.

Two juveniles -- one from New Haven and the other a Hamden resident -- were arrested Sunday night after allegedly stealing a cell phone from a Hamden teen after threatening to shoot him.

At about 7 p.m. Sunday police got a report of a street robbery in the area of 953 Dixwell Ave, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers found that the victim, a 16-year old Hamden resident, was eating inside a Hamden restaurant when he was approached by the two juveniles, Smith said.

"When he left the restaurant, the juveniles stole his cell phone. The juveniles then allegedly threatened to shoot him," Smith said. "Moments later, Officer Mark Sheppard observed the two juveniles walking near Alling Street...after further investigation, they were arrested. The victim’s cell phone was recovered."

The 17-year-old New Haven resident and 15-year-old Hamden resident were both charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny. Both are scheduled to appear in New Haven Juvenile Court on Dec. 11.

Officer Michael DiMaria conducted the investigation, Smith said.

while receiving Staples Rewards does help defray the cost of supplies for the teachers, they areRead More STILL putting cash out of their own pockets! This should not be. But Kudos to the teachers who put their students above their own financial situation. The Town and parents should be footing the costs, not the teachers.
