Two Picked Up on Drug Charges

Heroin, pot found on pair in car parked in Mix Avenue lot, according to police.

 

On Nov. 28 at approximately 12:30 p.m., while on patrol Officer Gregg Curran observed two individuals acting suspiciously inside of a motor vehicle parked in the rear parking lot of 865 Mix Ave, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Curran's investigation led to the search of the operator of the vehicle, Simon Rodriguez, who was in possession of a small amount of marijuana, Smith said.

A further search of the passenger, Shelby Spivey, led to the discovery of heroin and two syringes, Smith said, and they were both placed under arrest.

Simon Rodriguez, 24, of 73 Longmeadow Ave., Hamden, was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Shelby Spivey, 18, of 29 Lakeview Ave., Hamden, was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Spivey, who was released after posting a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on Dec. 13.
