WFSB: Woman Attacked on Farmington Canal Trail in New Haven

A Yale University Law School student was attacked Wednesday evening while riding her bicycle on the New Haven portion of the Farmington Canal Trail, television station WFSB is reporting.

A man identified as Kourtney Hollby, 29, attacked the woman, the station reports, when he "picked the student up, flipped her upside down and rammed her head into the ground."

He tried to steal the bicycle but was unable to ride it, the station reports. A doctor who was using the trail came to the woman's aide and Hollby was apprehended by police a short distance away, according to the report.

The trail runs through Hamden before entering New Haven and is very popular with Hamden residents.

According to the state Judicial Website, Hollby has several other cases pending in court, including charges of breach of peace, resisting arrest, violation of probation, third-degree assault, violation of a protective order and fourth-degree sexual assault. He also has at least five convictions dating back to 2004, according to the webstie.

Hollby also allegedly made sexual comments to the victim in Wednesday's attack, according to the report.
