Police are looking for the person who stole an expensive set of wheels off a model of a car that is fairly rare in the state.
On Friday, Hamden Police got a report of someone tampering with a motor vehicle at Partyka Chevrolet at 200 Skiff St., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
Officers found that someone had entered the rear lot and put a jak underneath a 2013 MazdaSpeed3 sports car and stolen the wheels and tires, Smith said.
That model of the car "is unique in that there are minimal models in the state of Connecticut," Smith said. The wheels will fit on a Mazda 3 base car, he said, and the stolen tires and rims are worth about $2,500.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Joseph Liguori at 203-230-4000.
