Senate

Chris Murphy (D): The Day endorsed Congressman Murphy in the Democratic primary because "Mr. Murphy is the better politician. He is more affable, able to make his point in a debate or discussion without coming across as strident, quick to introduce personal anecdotes to make confusing, multifarious policy more understandable. These skills count in an election." 

Linda McMahon (R) released a new ad attacking Republican rival Christopher Shays, reports the Norwalk Citizen. It says Shays is a "career politician" and promotes herself as a job creator.  

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): DeLauro, along with Representative George Miller, submitted an op-ed to Politico emphasizing the importance of food stamps and other legislation that provides aid for Americans struggling to afford food.

Wayne Winsley (R):  that he will be holding an open Candidate's forum on Thursday, August 9th at 7 p.m. at the New Haven Senior Center. 

Fourth District

The Connecticut Mirror reports that the race between Steve Obsitnik (R) and Representative Jim Himes (D) is "becoming increasingly heated." Many attacks have stemmed from the candidates' attempts to win over independents.

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty (D): Esty has been endorsed by the Hartford Courant, Danbury-News-Times, and The Register Citizen in the Democratic primary, reports The Register Citizen. Each of these endorsements referenced Democratic rival Chris Donovan's campaign contribution scandal.

Justin Bernier (R): Bernier appeared on The Real Story on Fox CT on Saturday.
