DeLauro, Winsley Hope to Prevail on Election Day

An entrenched incumbent and a political newcomer face off to represent the Third District in Congress.

 

Long-time congresswoman Rosa DeLauro is seeking her 12th term representing the Third District. Republican Wayne Winsley, a motivational speaker and author, hopes to unseat the incumbent.

Compared to some of the more competitive races in the state, the Third District has been fairly quiet, as DeLauro enjoys a big advantage when it comes to campaign funds. The demographics of the region also favor Democrats.

Still, Winsley is hopeful.

“Everyone but the voters thinks this race is decided, but I believe I have a very good chance of winning,” Winsley told the Yale Daily News.
