Hamden Eye on the Beltway: Lieberman on U.S. Response to Syria

And, Blumenthal delivers commencement address to University of Hartford graduates.

BLUMENTHAL: The senator delivered a to nearly 1,100 graduates from the University of Hartford on Sunday. "I don’t doubt that my generation will leave a lot of unfinished business for you graduates and others,” he said, “but I also have no doubt that you will live up to this challenge, you will fulfill that compact, you will serve and give back.”

LIEBERMAN: The senator told The Hill recently that because an international peace plan to end violence in Syria is failing, the Obama administration might consider a military response. "It's our moral obligation to help them," Lieberman said.

DELAURO: The congresswoman released a statement in response to the approval of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would ban the Defense Department from purchasing helicopters for Afghan Security Forces from any firm “controlled, directed, or influenced by” a nation that provides weapons to Syria or other state sponsors of terrorism.

“If U.S. taxpayer dollars are going to be spent providing helicopters to the Afghans, those dollars should be spent on American systems that create jobs here at home,” DeLauro said. “And no U.S. taxpayer funds should be used to further enable the arming of the murderous regime in Syria."

MURPHY: The congressman — along with Sens. Lieberman and Blumenthal and Rep. John Larson — announced new legislation on Monday to protect the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook, according to Boston.com. The bill seeks to designate the waterways as protected under the U.S. National Park Service Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Murphy described the creation of the bill as a "team effort" on his Twitter .

So, let me get this straight- they take money out of the economy from us only to put it back into the economy because they know better how it should be used. Sure, that makes sense. They know better than YOU.
