Hamden Hires Purchasing Agent

The town's new purchasing agent is a resident and formerly worked for the Southington Public Schools.

A Hamden resident is the town's new Purchasing Agent.

The Hamden Legislative Council recently approved the appointment of Phillip W. Goodwin to the position. 

Goodwin has extensive experience in both the public and private purchasing; encompassing such tasks as account management, production management, competitive bidding, quotations and negotiations, and logistical management.

Most recently he was employed as Purchasing Agent for Southington Public Schools from 2006-2013. His work in Hamden has already proved effective in saving the Town significant funds through the use of consortium and related group purchasing power pricing.

“We’re very pleased to be able to hire an experienced professional for this important position,” said Mayor Scott Jackson. “The Purchasing Agent has the ability to save taxpayers dollars and improve efficiencies on projects, both of which Phil has already demonstrated success with in Hamden.”

Goodwin received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
