Mayor Scott D. Jackson and the “Jackson for Hamden” committee is hosting two events this weekend.
On Saturday, the mayor's reelection team will sponsor “Family Fun Day” at Town Center Park from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The day will include bounce houses, games, crafts, music, cotton candy & popcorn and much more. Residents planning to attend are asked to bring a non-perishable food item, which are being collected for the Hamden Food Bank.
The activity is designed to offer a fun filled afternoon for families and their children, while also collecting food for the local Food Bank, according to the campaign, as part of the Jackson for Hamden Committee’s “Give Back to the Community” weekend. Many Hamden Democratic candidates running for office will be participating in these events with the Mayor, so it is also an opportunity meet and talk with the Democratic Team.
“Town Center Park is becoming more and more of a central meeting place for our residents, in the true New England fashion,” said Mayor Jackson. “I hope that this will be a fun event where families can come to at no cost, have some fun and also share why Hamden is such a special place to live.”
Then on Sunday from 11 a.m - 3 p.m. the campaign will hold a Community Clean-up & Graffiti Removal Day.
Volunteers who want to help clean up Hamden can meet up at Hamden Democratic Headquarters, located at 2600 Dixwell Ave. across from the Hamden Middle School for coffee and to coordinate clean-up locations.
Residents are asked to bring a rake, gardening gloves and roller brushes for painting if you have them. The campaign will supply the garbage bags, paint and coffee!
“This Sunday we’re going to roll our sleeves up and work to clean up our Town,” said Mayor Jackson. “I hope you can join us.”
