Michael C. D'Agostino has been a member of the Hamden Board of Education since 1999. In 2005, his fellow Board members elected him to serve as the Board's Chairperson. A 1989 graduate of Hamden High School, Michael served as President of the National Honor Society was an all-district starter on the varsity football team. Michael went on to attend the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Law.
After graduating from law school in 1996, Michael returned to Hamden. Prior to his election to the Board of Education, Michael served as a member of the Farmington Canal Commission from 1996-98, where he helped oversee the plans to complete the popular canal trail connecting Hamden and New Haven. He also served as a Hamden Police Commissioner from 1998-99. In addition to his local service, Michael is a Board member and Regional director of the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education. He is also on the Board of Directors of Connecticut Appleseed, a statewide, non-profit organization that mobilizes the skills and resources of pro bono lawyers and other professionals to improve access to education, health care, financial and other services for the state's underprivileged population.
Michael currently practices commercial law in Hartford at the international law firm of Bingham McCutchen, LLP. A partner at the firm, Michael coordinates the pro bono efforts of Bingham's Hartford office. Michael is the son of former Hamden Superintendent, Dr. Julius J. D'Agostino and Catherine D'Agostino, a retired English teacher at North Branford High School.
