Parks & Rec Announces Summer Programs

Lots for the kids to do this summer.

The Hamden Department of Parks & Recreation will hold several summer camps this year.

For children in grades 3 through 5, the Green Dragons Day Camp begins July 5 and runs through August 5. Structured programming for daily in-house activities may include swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, Theme Day, tournament & outdoor activities.  

The first session will be held July 6 through the 22. Early registration rates through April 15 is $295. From April 18 to May 31, the registration rate is $305, and after June 1, $315.

The second session runs from July 25 through Aug. 5. Early registration rate through April 15 is $210, from April 18 – May 31, $220, and June 1 and later, $230.  

Camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Extended day program is available for additional fee, (times 7:30-8:30 a.m. and/or 3 – 5:30 p.m.)  is an additional $40 per week.

Mad Science Programs - ½ day programs, 9 a.m. – noon, cost per person is $145 -$175 depending on program. Programs are held at Hamden High School, 2040 Dixwell Ave. Resident & non-residents welcomed.

Eureka -  Discover-Create-Invent:  July 5-8, for students in grades 1 - 6.  Cost is $145.

Secret Agent Lab 1 Spy Academy - Aug. 1 -5 , students in grades 1-6, cost is $175.

Ciao Amici! - An Italian Summer Enrichment Program for Children.  

If your child is interested in learning Italian language and culture, would like to speak Italian and discover Italian traditions, then this is the program for them.  

For children entering grades 1-4, from July 11-22 from 9 a.m. – noon at Hamden High School.  Fee is $225 per child.  Enrollment is limited so sign up early at the Parks & Rec. office or go to www.hamden.com and download registration form.

The office is located in the Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell Ave.  Only checks and exact change for programs will be accepted, no credit cards.
