This Week in Hamden: Pet Parade, Halloween Dance

Today is Monday, Oct. 21 and here's what's going on this week:

— The Hamden Happy Tails Foundation will hold its 6th Annual Halloween Costume Pet Parade on Sunday at Hamden Town Center Park located between Miller Library and Hamden Middle School on Dixwell Avenue. Pet Parade registration will run from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.  The parade begins at 1:00pm led by Grand Marshall Steve Savino of AM1220 WQUN.  Judging and awards immediately following the parade.

New to this event will be a Flea Market, which opens at 8 a.m. for set up and runs from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Fee per space is $20. Also new to this year is a food court.  Vendors from the Hamden Farmers Market in are making a "curtain call" appearance and will be on site from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Hamden Youth Services Bureau will host a “Halloween” Discovery Dance on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hamden Youth Center gym, located at the Hamden Board of Education Building, 60 Putnam Ave. (back of the building entrance). This inclusive dance is open to youth ages 13-21 of all abilities, with chaperones. Entertainment and music will be provided by DJ Joe. In addition, pizza and refreshments will be served. For only $5 per person (including parents, chaperons and staff) it is sure to be a great night. Don't forget to wear a costume for extra Halloween fun. Because of limited capacity, pre-registration is strongly suggested.
