Grades Out for School Cafeterias

New Haven Independent complies results of health inspections in schools throughout the state, town schools scores high.

Restaurants are routinely subjected to inspections from state and local health departments to ensure sanitary conditions, but what about the food school children are eating?

The New Haven Independent recently compiled data on school cafeterias statewide and posted the results by municipality.

In general, the inspections resulted in high grades for the schools, and even those who scored less than 100 percent were cited for seemingly minor infractions such a blocked hand sink to more serious issues like mice droppings.

Several schools, including Church Street, Dunbar Hill, Spring Glen, Hamden Middle School and Sacred Heart Academy, came out with 100 percent ratings and no issues noted.
