Hamden High School PTSA Presents Spirit Awards
More than $2,000 in grants were allocated to a variety of groups.
The Hamden High School PTSA recently awarded mini-grants to aid various Hamden High School groups and clubs.
Funds raised for Spirit Awards by HHS-PTSA were matched by the Hamden Board of Education, with more than $2,000 dispersed among the recipients.

Grants awarded included:
- Hamden High School Color Guard to purchase essential equipment, including uniforms;
- The student newspaper, The Dial, to publish a print edition;
- Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) to produce a Freshman Survival Guide for 8th graders entering Hamden High School next year;
- STTOP, to raise awareness and pay for transportation to the True Colors Conference on the UCONN campus, the largest annual gathering of LGBT youth in the country;
- Team H to fund a fieldtrip to New York City in May;
- Writers Club to purchase a library of contemporary poetry and to pay for a related fieldtrip.
Hamden Youth Advisory Council and its “Positive Choices” Campaign to prevent underage drinking and drug use congratulates all recipients and commends them for setting a positive example for Hamden youth. HYAC supports the efforts of the HHS-PTSA in encouraging Hamden youth to make “Positive Choices.”
