Hamden Middle School to Honor Gabriela Hudak

The Hamden girl passed away earlier this year after an accident involving a tree.

Students at Hamden Middle School will honor a classmate who passed away in April when she was struck by a falling tree in her yard.

Donations are being accepted this week that will be used to purchase lemon trees that will be planted in the school's atrium in memory of Gabriela Hudak.

Gabriela was a member of Team Rebhum, and it's that team that is organizing the "Give Green for Gabby" fundraising drive that ends on Friday.

"Gabriela was an excellent student, a great musician and an even better person," according to a letter sent home to parents about the fundraiser. "Gabby loved lemons and these trees will help to remind us that her spirit of adventure and unique personality live on.

"We know this has been a difficult year for everyone, but we did not want to end it without honoring Gabby," the letter said.

Anyone interested in contributing to the fund can contact Hamden Middle School at (203) 407-3140.
