Hamden Students Earn Excellence in Arts Awards

Sacred Heart Academy seniors received arts in excellence awards.

Two Sacred Heart Academy seniors earned Connecticut Association of Schools arts in excellence awards.

Each year, the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) honors two outstanding seniors from each member school who excel in the performing and visual arts. Additionally, students must possess the qualities of scholarship and leadership. Rachel Porzio and Angela Stong, for excellence in performing arts and visual arts respectively, were the Sacred Heart Academy 2014 selections.

Rachel Porzio is the daughter of James and Lori Porzio of Hamden and Angela Stong is the daughter of Edward and Terry Stong of Hamden.

Sacred Heart offers students a wide variety of opportunity for growth in the Fine and Performing Arts. Students engage as dancers, singers, painters, sculptors, photographers and technicians and teachers provide a supportive environment that encourages creativity and hands-on experience. Through courses in the performing and visual arts, students learn to appreciate beauty through aesthetic awareness, to evaluate, and to think and learn in an artistic manner.
