Rabinowitz Going to Bridgeport

The Hamden superintendent of schools has accepted the interim superintendent's position in Bridgeport, the Connecticut Post is reporting.

The Bridgeport Board of Education has selected Hamden Supt. of Schools Fran Rabinowitz as its interim superintendent as it searches for a permanent replacement.

The Connecticut Post reports that Rabinowitz will replace embattled Supt. Paul Vallas as interim superintendent. The Bridgeport superintendent battled to keep his job after the state determined that he didn't have the proper certification but has recently tendered his resignation. His final date in the district hasn't yet been determined.

Rabinowitz notified the Hamden school board last year that she intended to retire. She became Hamden's superintendent in 2007 after the death of former Supt. Alida Begina. Before that, she worked for the state Department of Education.

The Hamden Board of Education has been searching for a new superintendent for months. Rabinowitz, who couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday, told the Connecticut Post that the board is "close to picking a replacement."

Hamden had the BEST school system in the state not long ago. What happened?
J D C January 22, 2014 at 08:33 AM
My poor property value. Bear Path won AWARDS not long ago NOW they are ranked a 7 out of 10.

JDC, the Hamden school system is the best example of a failed liberal progressive education agenda, which has failed to educate our kids. At this time I don't think anyone has the answer to improve the school system here in Hamden, which is sad for the kids who go to Hamden schools… If some want to call the path Hamden education is on the correct direction, so be it… There are 360 degrees on a compass and Hamden’s school system has been moving one degree at a time in a circular direction. That’s what happens when a superintendent and BOE members can’t read a compass…There is an old saying “Those who travel in circles shall be known as big wheels.” Yes, Hamden does have some big, big, big wheels at the BOE… It’s time the wheel stops so our kids are no longer used as test subjects in a failed education experiment that has lowered the education standards here in Hamden for years to come.

Yeah they're more interested NOW in teaching the important CONTRIBUTIONS the ISLAMS have made in American History! That is A#1 on the list of changes they want made from what I've read, these pathetic liberal idiots.

All Rabinowitz was good at, was playing Financial Politics! Creating the need for program after program to get as much as possible from the Federal Level - however most of the FEDERAL MONIES had to be matched to some extent with TAX PAYERS MONEY!!! So Million Dollar Budgets were put in every year, programs were pulled out of the air to make sure the Federal Monies were used, and the Students of Hamden High got the worst of it all. If you don't want to learn,- we now a program for you - don't want to behave - we have a program for you - don't like the color of your teachers hair - we have a program for you!! Want to learn and get a decent education? Sorry we have no money left - it was all spent on the SPECIAL CHILDREN!!! You want to see how advanced a Hamden High School Student is - go to Stop and Shop and give them the EXACT CHANGE after they punched your amount into the register - a person could make a good living when it depends on them being able to do math in their head!!! Mario - unfortunately like so many in this town (country) you turn a BLIND EYE TO REALITY!!! So it will be business as usual here in Hamden!
J D C January 22, 2014 at 02:29 PM
The color of your teachers hair? LMMWAO hahahaha, 'member Ms Grillo's hair? She had a HAIRDO goin on ALL the time!

Remember just waiting, hoping that one of the Habit veils would falloff so we'd know once and for all if they were bald! lol
Mario January 22, 2014 at 05:08 PM
Linda - I did not reference your name in any of my posts and I would appreciate the same in return.
J D C January 22, 2014 at 05:11 PM
Wait a minute you dont remember when Sister Cathrine's in I think 2nd grade came off? She was using the pointer on the chalkboard and it got caught in it and ZIPPO came RIGHT OFF! OMG I will NEVER forget that. She had a frikken scaldino. I felt so bad for her because she was nice.
J D C January 22, 2014 at 05:51 PM
Holy cow whoever has kids have them aspire to be a Supt of schools, in Hamden if they can get the gig. While "retired" in 2011 she made $795 A DAY working 3 days a week. She said back in '12 that she thought the new SOS would cost the town $200k a year plus the "search fee". How much is the "search fee" to find a replacement, anybody?
Linda C January 23, 2014 at 07:35 AM
MARIO!!! I used your name referring to your comment. You were one of the FEW with the impression Rabinowitz and her 900 million dollar budgets were worth it. If you have a problem, then I suggest you refrain from commenting on PUBLIC FORUMS, or change your name to Anonymous if your embarrassed about your comments. However seeing that Thomas also referred to you by name as well as you/ his, it's obviously some personal issue you have with me. So in the future best way to resolve the problem would be to AGREE with me lol. Don't be so sensitive!!
Len January 23, 2014 at 08:05 AM
Mario! Linda told you all about yourself! Damn! Shes a fire cracker huh? Be carefull.....
Mario January 23, 2014 at 08:30 AM
Linda, like others from your generation, you live in a bubble where you think what worked many years ago somehow still applies today. It has been said numerous times before...if you are so unhappy with the current state of our town, simply put your house up for sale and move. Then you can take your venomous comments and prejudices with you to a different Patch. I am convinced, based on your history of comments, that no matter where you land you will find something to bash. The fact that you took the time to draft a letter complaining about the recycling bins tells most Patch readers everything they need to know. Oh look...another positive letter has been posted about the superintendent...I guess you and your cronies can head over there and spout your criticisms. Be sure to capitalize every other word so it has a greater effect.
J D C January 23, 2014 at 09:03 AM
Linda C., your being asked to LEAVE town (accentuating) because you're a DINOSAUR (accentuating)! Lmao-I think there's some thongs up too high? Btw, I think I'll "head over there" now. LOL
Linda C January 23, 2014 at 12:33 PM
lol Hey JDC we're now of an Older Generation according to Mario - Ouch!!! Mario I think you'd be surprised to know just how old I am. Regardless though; if conforming to the wrongs done in this world makes me old, than I'm ancient!! My home is on the Market Mario because as we know the MILL RATE MUST GO UP (Legally). Your illustrious Mayor made sure of that with the Pension Bonding! Unfortunately those in the Market to buy can READ and realize they would pay more taxes on my little house than they would on a Mansion in Greenwhich!! I'm sure there will be things I don't care for in my new town, just as there are in my OLD COUNTRY!! Unlike you I'm not willing to ROLL OVER!! I have a great love for my Old town, and Pride in my Old America!! For that I will NEVER APOLOGIZE!! Even sadder is that YOUR GENERATION is the GENERATION OF ME!!! Nothing is important to you other than how it affects YOU! Only when it does affect you negatively, will you comment or God forbid TAKE A STAND! Look around you Mario - if this is the kind of town you want to live in and the type of world you are satisfied with, than continue to tow the party line and drink the Kool Aid! JDC, me and others (negative people according to you) will continue to do your fighting for you and try to keep a decent America for you to continue to live in! You Rest!! ENOUGH CAPITOLS FOR YOU?
J D C January 23, 2014 at 01:57 PM
Yes the new ballsy " if you dont like it leave" and words like "bubble" and "your generation" and "idealistic views" are all code words from young liberals meaning "we are cowards, sheep and disrespectful, but just to the people that we know wont kick our asses, and we accept the fact that there are scumbag entitled criminals and wont do anything about it because its easier to be RULED (accentuating) than FIGHT (again) back"! I say we gather them all up Linda for a field trip to ANY (again) cemetery where we can find some VFWs (has to be capitalized) graves so they can just pee all over them, like they do theoretically EVERY DAY (again). Why did ALL (yes) those soldiers DIE (again) for this country to remain free? A place where you should EXPECT (again) to live SAFELY (again) and not be RULED (DOUBLE ACCENTUATE!), not the other way around! But its hard to blame these youngsters when they have had it pounded in to them their WHOLE ( ), albeit short lives.
Mario January 23, 2014 at 03:45 PM
Linda said: My home is on the Market Mario because as we know the MILL RATE MUST GO UP (Legally). See Linda, we can finally agree that something you said is positive!
Len January 23, 2014 at 04:14 PM

J D C January 23, 2014 at 04:19 PM

Mr boston blackberry? Its been along time since i spent any time with mr boston. We could sit on top of trash barrels and tree stumps! Lmao
Linda C January 23, 2014 at 04:37 PM
Mario is the fact that the Mill Rate will be going up again the Positive part - or that my house is up for sale? Missed your point - but if you'd like to get rid of me sooner - MAKE AN OFFER! I'll pre-warn ya though - don't have to live in Hamden to comment on here - so it wont solve all your problems.
J D C January 23, 2014 at 04:44 PM
The "Jezzy"!
Linda C January 23, 2014 at 04:44 PM
I say we do it at what use to be the Town Hall. Give the people sitting in traffic jams something entertaining!
Len January 23, 2014 at 04:55 PM
That town hall traffic situation is so stupid!! One lane??? Why?? Who laid out that street plan? Helen keller? Why the median? Why the indents to park if there is a "garage"? Theres enough steps and sidewalk for hundreds of people to gather on. The light post are super modern and look like they are from war of the worlds. Yet, we spent so much extra money trying to preserve the "old" look and match the police station to it.
Thomas Alegi January 23, 2014 at 07:20 PM
Yes Len, there are enough steps and sidewalks for hundreds of people to gather on. There is even enough light post for a good number of Dogs to use. Progress at it best! LOL
Marjorie B. January 28, 2014 at 07:59 AM
No one but police personnel can park in that lot at the current time. The upper levels are not finished. So....the public still cannot easily access THEIR monument to government.
Len January 28, 2014 at 08:36 AM
I was, and am, in favor of a new town hall and police station. We needed it badly! It turned out that the lowest bidder on the design and archetect was also as about as sharp as a bowling ball. My 4 year old has designed better layouts with his legos in her playroom
