Sacred Heart Academy Welcomes New Faculty

Sacred Heart Academy President Sr. Sheila O’Neill, ASCJ, Ph.D. and Principal Sr. Maureen Flynn, ASCJ announce the following appointments for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Kathryn Nunez, of Milford, has joined the World Language Department and will teach Spanish I and Spanish II. 

Her undergraduate work was done at Lee University in Tennessee where she earned a B.A. in Spanish. She comes to Sacred Heart from West Haven High School, where she taught Spanish language and literature to ninth through twelfth graders. She has been teaching for 10 years in public and private schools and has lived in 6 different countries outside the United States.

Mary Oldham, of New Haven, has joined the Science Department. She attended the University of South Florida where she earned a B.S. in Physics Education and a M.Ed. in Science Curriculum and Instruction. 

She comes to Sacred Heart from Boston, Massachusetts where she taught College Physics, Honors Physics, and Physical Science at Norwood Senior High School. While in Boston area, Mrs. Oldham worked in a biomedical engineering lab at Boston University where she helped develop technology for the study of optogenetics and was also an educational consultant for the MIT Museum in Cambridge. Mrs. Oldham will teach College Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering and lead the Rocketry Club.
