Sacred Heart Students Excel @ CT Science & Engineering Fair

Once again Sacred Heart Academy students did exceedingly well at the Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair. CSEF is a yearly, statewide science and engineering fair open to 7th through 12th grade students residing, or enrolled, in Connecticut schools and several New York towns. The objective of CSEF is to attract young people to careers in science and engineering while developing skills essential to critical thinking, and by participating, students are encouraged to pursue independent work. More than 15,000 students, from over 120 schools and regional fairs, compete for the 500 coveted spaces at the fair. Congratulations to the following students, all of whom earned second, third, and/or special awards at the Connecticut State Science & Engineering Fair: Class of 2013 Tess Cersonsky:“Development of an in vitro model for implantation” Life Science 2nd Honors Alexion Biotechnology Awards - Senior High Finalist Christina Jiang: “The Effects of Ocean Acidification on Oyster larvae (Crossostrea virginica)” Life Science 2nd Honors Class of 2014 Olivia Kelly:“Peak electricity: Generating Energy Using a Centrifugal Airflow Fan Blade, Propelled by Hot Air Flowing from a Soffit Vent to a Ridge Vent on a Roof “ Physical Science 2nd Honors EnergizeCT/essmarts Alternative/Renewable Energy Awards - High School Finalist EnergizeCT/essmarts Future Sustainability Awards - High School Finalist Society of Women Engineers – Hartford Section - Scientific Calculator ProConn Power Inc.
