That's because current board member Austin Cesare won an at-large seat on the Legislative Council, so as soon as he is officially sworn in, his school board seat will be vacant.

The Town Charter calls for the school board to select a new member through an interview and election process. The new board member must be a Republican, as is Cesare, so it is open to registered Republicans.

Anyone interested in the seat is asked to submit a letter of interest and current résumé describing your professional experience, education and community service.

Email or send the information to Wendy Ocone at wocone@hamden.org or at the Hamden Board of Education, 60 Putnam Ave., Hamden, CT 06517. Resumes also can be sent to board Chairman Michael D’Agostino at michael.dagostino@bingham.com  no later than Dec. 5.

The Board expects to fill the vacancy at its regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 13.
