SHA Senior, Hamden Resident Named Finalist in International Art and Design Contest

Angie Stong also was recognized in both 2012 and 2013 and the Mayor's Citation from the Town of Hamden for Excellence in Visual Arts.

Angie Stong of Hamden, a member of the Class of 2014 at Sacred Heart Academy, was named a finalist in the Savannah College of Art and Design 2013-14 Challenge Scholarship Competition for her entry, "Panic," a self-portrait.

Angie serves as contributing photographer for the school’s yearbook and for HEART magazine, a publication for the entire constituency. President of the school's photography club, she is also art editor of PRISM, the Academy’s literary arts magazine. 

In 2012 she received the SHA Excellence in Photography Award and in 2013 the SHA Excellence in Paint Crew Award, and this year served as the chief set designer for the musical production of Annie. Outside of school, she was recognized with an Official Citation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly for Talent and Achievement in the Visual Arts in both 2012 and 2013 and the Mayor's Citation from the Town of Hamden for Excellence in Visual Arts also in 2013 and 2013.

She has owned and operated Angie Stong Photography since March 2012, a company she started specializing in portrait and event photography.

Sacred Heart Academy offers a wide variety of opportunities in the Fine and Performing Arts. Students engage as painters, sculptors, photographers, singers, actors, dancers, and technicians. Faculty members encourage creativity through hands-on experience. In Fine Arts classes students learn to appreciate beauty through aesthetic awareness and to think and learn in an active and artistic manner.
