SHA Welcomes New Faculty Members

Some new, some returning faces at the Benham Street school.

 

President Sr. Sheila O’Neill, ASCJ, Ph.D. and Principal Sr.Maureen Flynn, ASCJ announce the following appointments for the 2011-2012 academic year:


Anna Bouteneff of Milford has joined the World Language Department. She attended Northeastern University in Boston, where she earned a B.S. in Political Science and a M.P.A degree. She later attended Sacred Heart University, where she earned a M.A. in Secondary Education as well as Connecticut State Certification. She will teach French II Honors and French III. Prior to joining the faculty at Sacred Heart, Miss Bouteneff worked at the Flood Learns After School Hours Program, the Bridgeport Public School System and Newtown Public School District. Before entering the field of education,she worked as an executive assistant for an international financial software companyheadquartered in Paris, France.

Stephanie Kimball of New Haven joins the Mathematics Department and will teach AP Statistics, PreCalculus, Geometry, and Functions, Statistics & Trigonometry. She earned a B.A. from Southern Connecticut State University in mathematics, where she graduated cum laude and was the recipient of the Francis A. O’Connell Memorial Scholarship. While at Southern, she tutored math in the tutorial center. Ms. Kimball earned her M.S. from the University of Connecticut also in mathematics. While pursuing her degree, she taught Calculus for Business and Economics to undergrads. She is a member of both the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematics Association of America and does private tutoring.

Oscar Rollán of Wallingford has also joined the World Language Department. He did his undergraduate work at Universidad de Salamanca, where he earned a B.A. in History, Geography and Art History and his graduate work at Middlebury College, where he earned his M.A. in Spanish. Mr. Rollán will teach Spanish I, Spanish II Honors and Spanish III, and co-moderate the Spanish Club. He comes to Sacred Heart from Choate Rosemary Hall, where he taught Spanish language and literature to ninth through twelfth graders, served as the language lab specialist, organized cooperative learning activities and coached. He also taught Spanish at both Hopkins School and St. Joseph High School in Trumbull.

MaryLee Delaney of Wallingford returns to Sacred Heart Academy and will teach English to freshmen and seniors, as well as direct the musical “White Christmas.” She received her B.A. in English from Albertus Magnus College and her M.F.A. from Emerson College. Mrs. Delaney was an International Theatre Institute Fellow and has worked at The Tanzfabrik and the Volksbuhne Theatres in Berlin, Germany. She has been the Artistic Director of the Lansdowne St. Playhouse in Boston and the Associate Artistic Director of the All Children's Theatre in Providence. She began teaching at Sacred Heart Academy in 2001, where she has served as a faculty member, chair of the English Department, and director of six mainstage musicals and award winning drama productions at the CT Drama Association.

Sr. Mary Anne Sharron, ASCJ ’64, of Hamden, returns to Sacred Heart for the fourth time as a member of the Theology Department. She previously served at Sacred Heart as assistant principal, alumnae director and teacher. Sister Mary Anne earned her A.A. degree from Mount Sacred Heart College and her B.A. in mathematics from St. Louis University. She completed her M.A.L.S. in mathematics from Wesleyan University and did further graduate work in administration at both St. Louis University and Sacred Heart University. Sr. Mary Anne holds Connecticut certification in administration and a certificate of advanced biblical studies. All of Sister’s ministries were in Catholic education as teacher and administrator until most recently, when she served as the administrator and religious superior at Sacred Heart Manor for six years. An avid follower of sports, especially Yankee baseball, Sister also enjoys reading and listening to instrumental music.
