Student Spotlight: Academic Achievements of Hamden Residents

Jonathan Nazario of Hamden was inducted into the National Honor Society of Cheshire Academy in Cheshire. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to award those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Lindsay Tyler, a resident of Hamden and a member of the Providence College class of 2015, recently spent a week working with Habitat for Humanity as a part of the College's Alternative Spring Break 2013 program.  Lindsay worked at a site in Goldsboro, NC.

Keenan Bock and Shrijana Shrestha, both of Hamden, were named to the the dean's list at Quinnipiac University for the Fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C.

Nicole Casbarro and Rachel Southard, both of Hamden, were recently inducted into the Tau Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nursing at Quinnipiac University. To be eligible for induction, a graduate student must have completed 20 credits in the ANP curriculum or 23 credits in the FNP curriculum. In addition, they must also have achieved academic excellence, defined as a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Finally, they must meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Chloe Germain, a member of the class of 2013 from Hamden, has been named to the fall 2012 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.

Villanova University named the following students to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester:

• Oliver Ayer, from Hamden, is studying Classical Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,
• Jami-Ann Kranich, from Hamden, is studying English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,
• Lauren Destito, from Hamden, is studying Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,

Villanova University Dean's List recipients are honored by their college's respective dean. To qualify, one must be a matriculated full-time student and earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.5.

Goodwin College has announced that 757 students have achieved GPAs of 3.5 or above and earned spots on the prestigous Dean's List for the Fall 2012 session. Students qualify for the Dean's List by maintaining a minimum 3.5 GPA and being registed in at least six credits.

Goodwin College has announced that 239 students have achieved perfect GPAs and earned spots on the prestigous President's List for the Fall 2012 session. To qualify students must maintain 4.0 GPAs and be registered for at least six college credits.
