Student Spotlight: Residents Earn Degrees

Alexander Feldman '14 of Hamden, CT, was one of the inductees into Eastern Connecticut State University's Upsilon Pi Epsilon Computer Science Honor Society. Feldman's major is Computer Science. The Computer Science Program emphasizes the fundamental principles of mathematics and the engineering sciences, and is broadened by substantial opportunities in the arts, the social sciences, the life sciences, and the humanities.

Keene State College has released the Dean's List for the spring semester 2013. Among the 1,321 students named to the Dean's List is Philip Alan Horn of Hamden. The Dean's List designation is bestowed to those Keene State College undergraduates enrolled in a degree program who have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. A 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale is required to earn the Dean's List honor.

Briana Della Mura of Hamden was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology cum laude from Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts, when it held its annual Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11th.

Haley W. Schaefer of Hamden, received the juris doctor degree on Saturday, May 11, from Washington and Lee University School of Law. Schaefer was among 141 students who received their J.D. degree during commencement ceremonies held on Washington and Lee University's historic Front Lawn. Schaefer received the undergraduate degree from Lafayette College.

The following hometown residents were awarded degrees during Salve Regina University's 63rd commencement on Sunday, May 19: Erika Noel Salsbury of Hamden, was awarded a bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in Elementary Education. Salsbury is a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma national scholastic honor society for students of colleges and universities with a Catholic tradition. Nataliya Rutenberg of Hamden was awarded a master of business administration degree in Management.

On Saturday, May 11, Keene State College's Commencement honored its biggest-ever graduating class. A total of 1,219 degrees were awarded to 1,146 students. This year's graduates included the following local students: Steven Martins of Hamden earned a BABrytani Randlett of Hamden earned a BA.

Bryant University held its 150th Commencement on Saturday, May 18. Among the graduates are the following local residents:
Bianca Marie Cornacchia, of Hamden, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing
Isabel Avery Tirado, of Hamden, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management Cum Laude
