Hamden SportsBeat: Our Top Triathletes, Part II

Patch looks at more of the top triathletes in the area.

TIM STEISKAL (Naugatuck) Just 21-years old, Steiskal has already made a name for himself on the triathlon circuit. Last summer, he won the Mossman Triathlon in Norwalk with a time of 1:00:14. Steiskal also captured the Smith Point Sprint in Shirley, New York and took fourth place in his age group (20-24) in the Rev3 Half-Ironman (1.2 swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1) with a time of 4:48:31. Steiskal, who is a swimmer at Southern Connecticut State University, competed in the USA Triathlon Age Group Championships in Vermont and placed 56th.

PASCALE BUTCHER (Southport) An 11-time All-American, Butcher is a triathlon coach and co-founder of Trifitness in Fairfield. She won her age group (44-49) in the 2009 NYC Triathlon and came in sixth in the 2008 Vancouver World Championships. Place third overall among woman in the 2009 Harryman Olympic Triathlon in New York.

VALENTIN LOPES (Fairfield) Professional triathlete for just over a year and also coaches amateurs in the sport. Competed in the 2010 Ironman World Championship in 2010, finishing 69th in his age group (25-29). Won his age group and placed 16th overall in the 2010 Lake Placid Ironman with a time of 9 hours, 33 minutes.

KATIE BOTTINI (Wilton) Bottini has won her age group eight times in her triathlon career. In the USA Triathlon Age Group Championships last August in Vermont, Bottini finished eighth in the 25-29 age group with a time of 2:15:49. She captured the 2010 Mighty Hampton's triathlon for her age group, finishing in a time of 2:21:01. 

MATT CAPPIELLO (Southbury) A longtime triathlete, Cappiello has been competing in endurance events since 1996. He's run the Boston Marathon twice as well as the Los Angeles Marathon. Cappiello finished the Lake Placid Ironman in just over 10 hours and last summer, he finished sixth in his age group (45-49) in the Pat Griskus Olympic Triathlon Regional Championships in Middlebury with a time of 2:04:46.

IAN RAY (Easton) Has been competing in triathlons since 2001 and has won a staggering 32 races for his age group. Last summer, Ray, 48, finished sixth in his age group (45-49) in the Pat Griskus Olympic Triathlon Regional Championships. He completed the 2009 New York City Marathon in a very good time of 3:29:30.

MEGAN SEAFROSS (Ridgefield) Competed in her first triathlon at the age of 35 in 2000. Is a six-time All-American Triathlete and has completed five Ironman events (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) including the prestigious Ironman in Hawaii two times. In 2010, Seafross finished 42nd in her age group in Hawaii with a time of 12:21.

Yes, trust the state legislators, as we trusted the Social Security was supposed to be held In escrow, what happened? THEY STOLE THE MONEY AND USED IT FOR THEIR THINGS THEY THOUGHT WAS MORE BENEIFICIAL. So, let me get this straight- they take money out of the economy from us only to put it back into the economy because they know better how it should be used. Sure, that makes sense. They know better than YOU.
