Sacred Heart Academy Advances in CIAC 1st Round
Pacers' duo of Natalie Bastian and Alexis Ianonne net 14 points each to lead team past Newington.
Sacred Heart Academy picked up a hard-fought 58-53 victory in a Class LL CIAC first round playoff game Tuesday night against Newington.
The Pacers were led in scoring by sophomore Alexis Iannone and junior Natalie Bastian who each scored 14 points.
It was not a pretty game for either team as both struggled for consistency. Newington coach Al Ford was impressed with his team's effort but acknowledged that his team struggled to find the appropriate rhythm.

"There was a lot of little things that we had a tough time with," said Ford. "We just couldn't get over the hump. It's almost been the tale of the season. We've been so close. It was a great year, I've been very pleased with how hard they've worked."
Newington senior guard Briyana Pabon led all scorers with a game-high 20 points.

The #12 seeded Pacers advance in the Class LL CIAC playoffs to play #5 Hall-West Hartford at Hall High School Friday at 7:00 p.m.
