View from the View

Spring is here, and the action is heating up at Laurel View Country Club. Here's the latest golfing action at the town's own golf course.

The Men's Club opening day at Laurel View Country Club last weekend was a rousing success as old faces and a few new ones gathered to kick off the 2011 golf season.

A field of 92 golfers teed it up at 8:30 Sunday morning, dusting off their sticks after what was a long brutal winter in Hamden.

The format for the opening day tournament was four-man teams taking the best two balls gross and best two balls net for each hole. The net division was
calculated using just 80 percent of the players handicaps.

Opening day is just the first of over 23 Men's Club events to be held at LVCC and there are plenty of openings for anyone interested in joining. Men's Club members are given an official USGA handicap index, free entry into more than 23 Men's Club
events throughout the season and great competition and friendships to be
made.

Anyone interested in joining the Men's Club should stop in the LVCC
pro shop or call 203-281-0670 and speak with LVCC Head Professional Peter
Seaman or Assistant Pro Dustin Haddad.
