war, enemy aliens, or combat troops who take refuge in a neutral country.

Definition 

So maybe this isn't the most fitting definition.... but interns at The Space are troops who have taken shelter in a place where all and new music is welcome. A place where being you is enough, and giving local bands the opportunity to let their music be heard and join our family.

I admire the sense of family that is felt through working at this venue. The staff and interns are all very different, allowing us to grow and learn from each other. Working with these people is not only fun, but also motivating and creates a drive. When I was interviewed for the summer the first question I was asked was:

"How can we help you make this an experience that you can learn from and use for the future."

I love that one's ideas aren't simply just ideas, but have opportunity to create something worthwhile. The intern's are challenged to think outside the box, or green room if you will, and are reminded that one simple idea can and will be used with guidance and hard work.

Whether it's learning Photoshop, making tickets, fliering in the summer heat, chalking the bathroom, sending too many event requests on Facebook, making sure Checkers (the puppy) is happy, or scraping immense amount of stickers and tape off the glass doors; being an intern at The Space is a rewarding experience.
