The Lyndonville Takeover...

Four bands from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont trek down to The Space & Outer Space to perform this summer.

When you hear about Lyndonville, VT, it doesn’t ring a bell to most people. However, the locals and college students in the area know it as the tiny town nestled in the green mountains of the Northeast Kingdom.

Basically, you have the college, the dive bars, and a diner with a few other mom and pop shops thrown in. “The Ville” doesn’t have much going on… besides its expansive music scene.

Between the college and the town, Lyndonville is bursting at the seams with bands - everything from Zappa inspired music to metal, jam band to rock and roll. If you don’t like one genre, the town has something you’re sure to enjoy.

So why the takeover? Those Lyndonville bands have found their way to Hamden. Four bands out of The Northeast Kingdom are making the trek to The Space and Outer Space this summer. We encourage you to come down and check them out while they’re here.

Electric Sorcery - 6/28 - The Outer Space (21+)
Facebook Event
For fans of: Frank Zappa

From Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom comes the progressive psychedelic sound that is Electric Sorcery.

This electrifying power trio brings together three of the best known original musicians in the NEK, Derek Campbell, on vocals and guitar, Luke Laplant on the electric wind instrument and Micah Carbonneau on the drums.

They are quite familiar with the New England music scene, having individually played and toured in groups such as The Jennifer Hartswick Band, Bootyjuice, Viscus, Viper House, Movement of the People and many others. Their brand of heavy rock music pulls together styles from fusion to reggae to rap and beyond creating a unique and original style that is not often heard in such far off rural locations. LISTEN.

Suncooked - 7/15 - The Space (All Ages)
Facebook Event
For fans of: Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers

Suncooked is a 3-piece touring Americana Folk/Rock group based out Lyndonville, VT. Suncooked’s unique sound is a blend of a variety of influences and voices.

The Summit of Thieves - 8/19 - The Space (All Ages)
Facebook Event
For fans of: The Band, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Metric

The Summit of Thieves burst onto the music scene in September of 2011. The rock and roll group is based out of Lyndonville, VT and the members are all students at Lyndon State College.

The Summit of Thieves has a dynamic live show with soulful ballads and funky dance beats, their set has yet to disappoint. In a few short months the band has played numerous shows, both in and out of state, and has even opened for Civil Twilight at Higher Ground (Burlington, VT). LISTEN.

SAILS - 8/19 - The Space (All Ages)
Facebook Event
For fans of: Spraynard

SAILS is an indie punk outfit from the northeastern corner of Vermont. Because of this isolated location, the band has had the opportunity to focus exclusively on what personally impacts them.

While seeming to leave everything on the table from the start, the music subtly evolves throughout any given song. Combined with a distinctively punk rock ethos, SAILS provides a truly engaging performance. LISTEN.

Check out the CVS parking lot when the High School lets out. I've seen "Daddy" picking upRead More little "Johnny" in a Town owned car. We know it was tax money paying for the gas, just hope it was lunch time. I thought the Town was cracking down on inappropriate use of vehicles. I hope not many have use of a car on Sunday, and sure hope they were on Town duty. Yes, Angela, sadly you are right, nothing will change, but there is always a chance maybe someone will listen.

CORRUPTION- IS MORE LIKE IT. GRAFT, UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR VOTING HABITS - AS ENSTEIN SAID- DOINGRead More THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT IS INSANITY. THAT IS THE VOTING HERE IN HAMDEN- INSANE THAT PEOPLE CONTINUE TO VOTE DEMOCRATIC AND EXPECT THINGS TO CHANGE. If you notice all cities with the democratic party in charge in the U.S. has the same problems. Start with New Haven, Hamden, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, they all have the same problems. Welfare, union legacy costs, taxation, North Haven seems to be run better, must check that out. Don't know if that is a democrat or not.

Beth there is so much abuse in this town it is ridiculous. How about getting stopped for seat beltRead More violations when most of the police do not wear them, or when they use cell phones instead of hands free devices. Could go on and on but who cares it will change NOTHING.
