Pepsi employees will be volunteering their time next weekend to help spruce up a portion of the Farmington Canal Greenway as part of the company's commitment to the community.

The town of Hamden has been chosen as one of this year's recipients of the Pepsi Supports Surrounding Towns Award.

Members of Pepsico's Stratford work force will be joining together with Hamden residents and elected officials on Saturday, June 4 to beautify one of Hamden's greatest assets: the Farmington Canal Linear Trail.

Volunteers will be working together to cover a graffitied fence visible along the Mather St. portion of the canal line. Applications for the award were judged based on municipal demographics and quality of project submissions.

“Corporate partnerships and volunteerism are key to the town's strategy for maintaining a clean community,” said Mayor Scott Jackson.  “I thank them for their generous support.”
