Sacred Heart Academy is an all-girls Catholic high school that sits atop Cherry Hill. Originally located in New Haven, the school moved to Hamden in 1953, to more than 100 picturesque acres. It installed its first president, Sr. Sheila O'Neil. Its student body consists of about 500 girls from Hamden and the surrounding areas. The school is known for its rigorous academic program that includes an award-winning science department.
