Where's the accountability? What is the Secretary of States' plan to fix it? When are the TownRead More registrars going to be held to the statutes? As a tax payer, you can go to jail for not filing and paying your taxes, when will a Town registrar be removed for not following the rules? Further mistakes happen, but what is being implemented to avoid the mistake for the next audit?
Joe Blow February 23, 2014 at 02:16 pm
Hey TJ, they're working on it. They just handed out 1000's of free licenses to the illegals to getRead More them on the rolls.

First selectman Freda in North Haven is looking to offer tax incentives for large corporations toRead More come in. He needs to change the town charter and is holding informational sessions and will bring it to a vote. This is the way to get things done. Where is our leadership? Why is Hamden constantly losing economic business development to North Haven?
Thomas Alegi November 7, 2013 at 07:12 pm
Marjorie B. your question "Why is Hamden constantly losing economic business development toRead More North Haven?” would cause someone to write hundreds pages to answer your question. So let’s see if I can respond to your question with as few words as possible. Unqualified Hamden town department heads who only present unrealistic incentives to medium and large businesses are making these businesses second think their willingness to setting up shop here in Hamden. Also our leadership on the L/C is trying to make Hamden a Green town at any cost. Green is good, but this strategy of Green at any cost, causes medium and large business to look at other towns that have a balanced approach to making their town’s Green.

Hahaha FORGET IT people. You're BEATING it to death. Tearing the yahoo right out of it. Its OVER!Read More Just like this country, gone the way of the communist, socialist liberal clowns that THINK that it is the better way. WAIT, Wow are they in for a big surprise because they DONT EVEN REALIZE WHAT WAY "IT" IS.....but they'll find out!
CherryPine November 6, 2013 at 05:55 pm
Hamden Republicans lost bad yesterday because Hamden is a heavily Democratic leaning town, the voterRead More rolls prove that, it's not hard to figure out. Republicans are never going to have a particularly great year in Hamden anytime in the near future.(and this is an off year election, which favors Republicans as the voting demographics skew more elderly)
Basha Wassermann November 12, 2013 at 11:53 pm
I've finally figured out why Hamdenites voted AGAIN for a tax and spend Democrat mayor--even thoughRead More our town is going down the financial drain, with many residents and businesses fleeing to neighboring towns (especially North Haven)--and 400 homes for sale in Hamden--and just sitting there... because Hamden residents are masochists!!! Yes, Hamden residents actually ENJOY suffering!! And you think "Trick or Treat" comes only on Halloween! WRONG!!! Our Dem's version of Trick or Treat comes twice a year--when we suffering taxpayers are forced to cough up a lot of moola for our ever-rising property tax payments--in December and in July--ouch! Does that ever hurt! Maybe what we really need to head this town is not a mayor, but a PSYCHIATRIST, to cure Hamdenites of their destructive, masochistic voting behavior. Like lemmings, they enter the voting booth to cast a vote for--you guessed it--another tax and spend Democrat for mayor, and more Democrats for the Legislative Council, to ensure that our pockets and bank accounts will be emptied to the max, to pay higher and higher taxes. Will Hamden voters ever learn? Tune in, to the next election, to find out. FYI: lemmings are creatures in Europe, who, approximately every five years, hundreds of them suddenly and blindly follow a leader lemming up a steep cliff, and they all jump off into the ocean, and drown. Do you wish to be like a lemming? Vote again for a Democrat.

Basha, your above comment just supports what a Yale psychiatrist once said to a group of HamdenRead More residents, some years back. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

It's true what they say JDC - can't cure Stupid! Well Oprah's off the air now, but at least you canRead More still come to Hamden for the give- a-ways. I heard he's on a platform now pointing thru-out to room - yelling YOU GET A CAR - AND YOU GET A CAR - YOU ALL GET A CAR LOL!!! IDIOTS
Fed-up November 5, 2013 at 10:57 pm
What a shame - Hamden citizens you made your bed once again - now try and sleep in it--CountingRead More sheep won't help - but counting the mill rate and your taxes might as you wonder why the realtors and absentee landlords are so very happy, so many more houses available as taxes drive us out, and QU students take over your residential areas.
Patricia Laudano November 6, 2013 at 06:47 am
I am happy to say Bob Anthony won the election in my district. However, I cannot believe theRead More stupidity of some individuals. In four of the districts Scott Jackson won by a landslide. I wish I knew where the districts were. I am going to check because they are really out of touch with what is going on in Hamden. I will no longer refer to Scott Jackson as Mayor. He doesn't deserve the title. I had a feeling that he would win because there is no accounting for stupidity. And I hate to say it but I guess the majority of the individuals that live in the town of Hamden are either so out of touch with what is going on or they are just plain STUPID!!!! I better not hear anyone in those districts ever complain about anything because they deserve everything they get. I will never vote to back them up on anything. Districts 3, 4, 5 and 6. In my opinion and mind you it is only my opinion, the people living in these 5 districts don't have a clue and they deserve everything they get.

Basha, The below words where taken form a "FREE INSPIRE EDUATE CONNECT" article datedRead More 10/1/1976 by Clarence B. Carson, “Chief Justice John Marshall was at his axiomatic best in the Supreme Court opinion set forth in McCulloch v. Maryland. He propounded several interesting and profound axioms in that decision…..The axiom that the power to tax is the power to destroy suggests an additional question. Namely, “Who and what is to be destroyed by the taxes to pay for it?” What businesses will fail because of the increased taxation? What services can no longer be offered because of the increased taxation? Whose property is to be confiscated to pay for it? How much of savings are to be subtly seized by the inflation? How many jobs will not be provided because there was no investment to pay for the tools to put men to work productively? What creative energies will be diverted or unreleased because of the taxes to pay for it? “

Linda C, Yes! Bob Anthony can do worse not by his own doing. All appointments to boards andRead More commissions and department heads have been approved by a Democrat controlled L/C. If a caption of a ship has no control over the navigator the ship can travel in circles and do no were

Marjorie Bonadies
Thomas Alegi November 4, 2013 at 10:17 am
Voters in the 9th district should consider voting for Marjorie Bonadies , she is an outstandingRead More person who is bright and has good understanding of the issues that face Hamden.
Thomas Alegi November 4, 2013 at 10:43 am
"Ron Gambardella is wrong if he thinks their union man will give the taxpayers anyRead More relief." Has anyone heard fire and police call each other brothers. Would any brother take money from another brother?.......Mr. Levinson their many low income senior citizens who own property in Hamden who CAN NOT afford paying these high taxes in Hamden.. Senior citizens can thank Scott Jackson and his team for their daily worries about living out their lives with dignity.

Angela, many Germans in 1938 said the same thing "Anyone is better than status quo" HitlerRead More came into power, and the Germans once again said "Anyone is better than status quo" . This comment does not refer to Jackson or Anthony in anyone. it just refers to ""Anyone is better than status quo" statement only
Chris November 4, 2013 at 11:34 am
continuing to give the Democrats a rubber stamp in this town is totally unacceptable. There is noRead More excuse to keep the Jackson admin in the town hall or to keep the Democrat controlled L/C status quo
Dave Pecoraro
Renee Maturo November 3, 2013 at 11:49 am
We need Dave Pecoraro on the Council. New faces of bright individuals who care about the town areRead More desperately needed. This young man is a public safety worker and has the experience needed to make decisions that would better our neighborhoods. We must stop these lifelong council members from serving year after year. The Hamden Legislative Council is beginning to work like the U.S. Congress. Lifelong seats create many issues for the town because tehy have too much power. The Council had been run by the same party since 1987. They cleverly are changing up the positions with the same people. Residents are not stupid, they see the shuffling around from, Council at Large to, District Council, to Board of Education seats using many of the same people running the town for too many years. Vote Row A including Dave Pecoraro in the 8th. These lifelong politicians in Hamden must retire. Hamden needs a refreshing break!
James Pascarella
Yvonne November 3, 2013 at 10:05 am
Jim, While you did a fantastic job on the Board of Education, I am happy to see you return to theRead More Legislative Council. You've got my vote even though I am not in your district!
Renee Maturo November 3, 2013 at 11:56 am
Just read the headlines and see the blight, crime and outrageous neglect in this District and youRead More must know the right vote is a Vote for Stephen Packard. He is intelligent, diligent and thoughtful. We need him on the Legislative Council. We need new faces and new ideas. We need a hard working, strong individual that cares about the people of his neighborhood and their speciifc needs. Wake up Hamdenites and Vote for Steve.

A few sentences in this above profile makes it sound as if someone else wrote this profile for BettyRead More Alberico. If that's the case who will speak for Betty Alberico, if she is elected to the L/C?
Matt Corcoran
Chris November 1, 2013 at 10:01 am
X2 Renee!! Matt's passion for this town is what can make a difference.
Renee Maturo November 1, 2013 at 10:27 pm
We need his brains and humility as well. A trustworthy person with no ties to the existingRead More politicians on both sides. Wake up people!!!
Thomas Alegi November 2, 2013 at 05:48 am
Ms. Maturo, I would suggest every resident of Any-town U.S.A. view the reruns of the Mickey MouseRead More Show on Election Night, instead of viewing election returns, were the same untrustworthy politicians are elected to office.
Eric Annes
Renee Maturo November 1, 2013 at 07:02 am
Does Eric realize, Hamden is on the brink of banckrupcy? Please do not vote for any more programsRead More that cost tax dollars. Please vote for Matt Cororan. The Town's deficit is enormous and borrowing must stop to get our town back on the right track. We need a surplus before we can porposed any more costly porgrams. Our children need to have a solid ficanancial future.
J D C November 2, 2013 at 06:33 pm
"Location appropriate" businesses? Is he going to broker the sales and leases also? ALLRead More due respect start looking at some of the PRISTINE, SCENIC plots of SACRED Hamden real estate for development of an INDUSTRIAL REGION that will DRAW larger corps here that EMPLOY people also! EVERY OTHER town and city around us has so many more industrial tracts than Hamden does. The Demosocialists just need to STOP now! The middle class is a thing of the past and our BACKS are BROKEN from carrying the load anyway! We have a GIANT but he's DEAD so unfortunately HE cant pay his "fair share" of the taxes anymore.
Professive Mom November 5, 2013 at 08:51 am
I learned yesterday that Eric sends his kids to PRIVATE SCHOOL! No offense against deep pockets,Read More but is there any understanding of people hurting financially here? And how can someone who is not vested enough in the community to send their kids to the very respectable local public school be the best choice for hard working families in Spring Glen?
Betty Wetmore
Thomas Alegi November 1, 2013 at 03:11 pm
When I read Betty Wetmore’s platform it stood out from all other candidates this year.Read More Betty’s, commitment to represent Hamden’s entire population for the past 10 years goes without question. Betty’s platform (mission statement) points to a future course of action by her that will benefit all Hamden residents. Her COMMON SENSE approach to represent all of Hamden’s residents for the past 10 years goes without question. We need more COMMON SENSE people like Betty representing us in our federal, state and local government. I hope Hamden voters will truly consider reelecting Betty Wetmore as one of Hamden’s Council At Large members on Election Day - November 5th 2013.
Beverly Littleton-Jackson January 9, 2014 at 01:27 am
I like the way Ms. Stone thinks and know her to be completely competent and forthright. HerRead More integrity is above reproach. She is a true "Queen."
