It was a gift to the town from Enos Brooks, who for years farmed the land. In 1947 it was officially named Brooksvale Park, and in 1958 it was put under the control of the town's Parks and Recreation Department. For 35 years, Ranger Jim Grandy was the park's caretaker, followed by Ranger Vinny Lavorgna, who has since overseen the property. In 2004 the Friends of Brooksvale Park was formed to provide support to the park. The park is known for its Fall Festival and its maple syrup program in the spring. The park's Veteran's Memorial Building was recently refurbished. The park also has two softball fields and a picnic pavilion.
