Founded in 1929, Quinnipiac University offers 52 undergraduate and 20 graduate majors, and has received accolades fromMore <i>U.S. News and World Report </i>for its academic programs. The scenic campus lies adjacent to Sleeping Giant Mountain, and boasts a host of athletic facilities, including the 185,000 square-foot TD Banknorth Sports Center where the college's men's and women's ice hockey and basketball teams compete. Quinnipiac is in the process of expanding to two new campuses, the 250-acre York Hill Campus located roughly a mile away from the main quad and home to the first major wind farm incorporated into an American university, and the North Haven Graduate Campus, which began housing the school's numerous graduate programs in 2010. Quinnipiac University also operates the nationally renowned Quinnipiac Polling Institute, which conducts widely cited public opinion polls on politics and public policy.
