Bridgeport Theatre Company Presents THE WEDDING SINGER

Bridgeport Theatre Company completes its third season with the hit musical THE WEDDING SINGER, running May 24 - June 9. It
is the final show in BTC’s spectacular 2012/13 season. All
performances will take place at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden
Hill Street, Downtown Bridgeport. Bridgeport Theatre Company operates
“in residence” at DCT, and each company operates independently of the
other whilst sharing the same space.

THE WEDDING SINGER, based on
the popular 1998 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, takes
place in 1986 and follows Robbie Hart, New Jersey's favorite wedding
singer. When his fiancée leaves him at the altar, he discovers that he
cannot stand to be around weddings and lashes out at every happy couple
for whom he sings. Heartbroken, he is forced to reexamine the meaning of
love and marriage before he destroys every wedding in New Jersey. With
the help of Julia, a local cater waitress, Robbie embarks on a hilarious
journey of identity, romance, and Bar Mitzvahs.

THE WEDDING
SINGER became a hit on Broadway in 2006, where it was nominated for five
Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score. With an
original 80s pop score inspired by the likes of Cyndi Lauper, David
Bowie, Boy George, and Pat Benatar, audiences will be transported to the
biggest party of them all: the 1980s rock concert. The score includes
Adam Sandler's hits from the movie, "Somebody Kill Me" and "I Wanna Grow
Old With You." The original Broadway score will be sung by a cast of 30
local performers, including John Stegmeier as Robbie, Laura Piacenza as
Julia, Marcelo Calderon as Sammy, Jason Parry as George, Ryan Little as
Holly, Jim Nassef as Glen, Holly LoRusso as Linda and Andrea Garmun as
Grandma Rosie.

Bridgeport Theatre Company proudly presents this
show, featuring a live rock band and more neon and spandex than you can
fathom. All Friday performances will take place at 8pm on May 24, May 31
and June 7. There will be two Saturday performances at 8pm on May 25
and June 1. On Saturday June 8th, there will be a matinee at 5pm and
an evening show at 8:30pm. There will be two Sunday matinees at 2pm on
June 2 and 9.

BTC will present a costume contest every Saturday
evening performance. Every participant decked out in their 80s best will
be invited onto the stage before the show and be eligible for prizes.
All participants in the contest will receive free popcorn
at intermission. There will also be a photo booth before the show and
during intermission in which people can pose for 80s inspired
Polaroids.

THE WEDDING SINGER is presented with direction by
Ricky Altamirano, musical direction by Eli Newsom, and choreography by
Jaclyn Baia. The cast of over 30 actors are from in and around Fairfield
county.

Tickets are $28 for adults, $23 for seniors, and $18 for
students and children. BTC offers concessions that will include 80s
inspired candy, soft drinks and snacks. Concessions will be available
