Sad Stump on Parade Route

I passed by this plaque beside the Miller library today. The plaque reads, "This tree is planted to honor the memory of George Paillet (Pete Frenettes) by his friends 1981." All irony aside (it being Memorial Day), it is sad that a crew would cut down this tree without consideration of the memorial by its side.
